Nick Gjelaj, Esq.
Nick, a first generation Albanian American and son of a Union Member, received his undergraduate degree from New York University and received his juris doctorate from Pace University Law School in 2001.
Nick was admitted to practice law in 2002. Since graduating law school, Mr. Gjelaj has worked tirelessly on behalf of injured workers and other injured plaintiffs, earning a reputation as a fierce but fair advocate.
Nick is recognized as an experienced New York construction accident attorney. He has litigated countless commercial and residential construction accidents and is well respected by the bench and bar for his familiarity of the Labor Law. In recognition of his skills and experience, Mr. Gjelaj was appointed as Co-Vice-Chair of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association Labor Law Committee. This committee is comprised of a select number of lawyers that have the responsibility of making sure that the laws impacting the safety and welfare of construction workers in New York are applied evenly and fairly.
Nick has represented various trades, including carpenters, laborers, steamfitters, sheet metal workers, plumbers and electricians.
Nick also has litigated automobile accidents, elevator accidents and tractor-trailer collisions. He has been involved in trials and settlements that have generated hundreds of million dollars for his clients. his results have appeared in New York Magazine, New York Law Journal, National Jury Verdict Reporter, New York Jury Reporter. He has been named as a “Superlawyer” by New York Magazine from 2013-present. He has also been named as one of the top 100 trial lawyers in the country.
Nick has been elected for his fourth term as a member of the Board of Directors with The New York State Trial Lawyers Association and currently serves on the Executive Committee as well. Nick is also politically active at the state and local level and devotes a great deal of time and effort to advocating on behalf of and the advancing the cause of workers and unions alike. For two years straight he was recognized by City and State Magazine as one of the top 100 most influential people in the Bronx.
He currently serves as the Chair of the Independent Judiciary Screening Committee for the Bronx Democratic Party.
